The team



Dick White Referrals is a multidisciplinary referral practice with a large and experienced clinical team. The nursing department comprises approximately 60 nurses across 24 hours, with 21 dedicated to night shifts. As part of the night team, you'll work alongside rotating veterinary interns, Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Surgeons, and fellow Registered Veterinary Nurses and Patient Care Assistants, with no lone working. While you may manage a ward independently, there is always full team support across the hospital.

What we're looking for



Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Ideally 1 or more years of post-registration experience (newly qualified nurses will be considered) Confident and proactive, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment Keen to work across multiple disciplines and build referral-level nursing skills Team-oriented with strong communication and initiative

About the role



As a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse at Dick White Referrals, you will rotate through multiple departments, including surgical, medical, and oncology wards, working with both canine and feline patients. Duties include in-patient care, nurse-led ward management, and supporting Emergency and Critical Care procedures. After demonstrating competence and interest, you may rotate into the intensive care unit.


Each night is varied, offering exposure to a broad range of referral cases. A structured handover process and collaboration with day teams ensures continuity of care and learning.

Dick White Referrals is located in a rural setting outside Six Mile Bottom, Cambridgeshire. There is no public transport access, so candidates will need to commute by car or taxi. Free on-site parking is provided.
