To support our residents with all aspects of their day to day living, so they are able to enjoy the best possible quality of life. You will work as part of a team within one of the units of our 70 bedded care home. Providing care and support can be challenging at times, however, it can also be extremely rewarding. Compassion, good communication skills and a calm and caring manner are essential for this important role in our company.
Key responsibilities
To provide safe, reliable, compassionate care and support to meet the individual needs and wishes of each resident. Each person is unique therefore you must respect each customers' choice about how their care and support is given and promote their dignity at all times.
As part of our team it is essential to report any changes or causes for concern to nursing staff promptly. You need to be clear about when to seek help and advice in order to keep our residents safe and promote their well-being.
Duties
Care and support
Give anti-discriminatory care and support that values the whole person rather than merely seeing a list of care needs. Carefully listen and observe how each resident prefers their care and support to be delivered on a day to day basis. Help them make their own decisions so they can be as independent as possible.

Administering medicines as prescribed.
Supporting the resident to eat and drink well. For example, assisting the resident to order from the home's daily menu in accordance with their stated likes and dislikes, or assisting residents to eat using adapted cutlery or any other means of support
Safely using aids and personal equipment in a manner that respects the dignity of customers. For example walking frames, wheelchairs, manual and electric hoists, sliding sheets, hearing aids and other physical aids
Some domestic work such as tidying, washing floors, vacuuming and sweeping, making beds and changing the linen
Social and physical activities or mental stimulation such as keeping in touch with friends/relatives, taking a resident to social activities that may be going on inside or outside of the home, supporting residents to maintain hobbies such as reading, painting, listening to music, taking part in games, etc.
Supporting a resident through temporary and terminal illness, including end of life care, hospital appointments, liaising with other health professionals and families

The care and support that you provide along with a record of any social activities
All charts that may require to be updated to ensure that certain aspects of resident's health are monitored
