Night Picker Supervisor, Melksham, Wiltshire

The role is assisting our Night Manager in supervising our night picking team as well as helping to pick food items that we supply to kitchens in the area, including some of the most prestigious hotels and restaurants. We are very good at what we do and the quality of our output is high.

Regular Duties include:

- Pick customer orders according to order lists or instructions

- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy of picking

- Pack orders and load products onto delivery vans

- Manoeuvre the vans to the shutter doors for loading

- Operate a forklift or other warehouse equipment to move materials and stock

Supervisor Responsibilities include:

- Have high expectations for staff; attendance punctuality and how they carry out their duties.

- Motivate and coach staff and lead by example

- Facilitate a positive and productive working environment with expectation of high standards

- Ensure highest level of safety, PPE and hygiene in your department.

- Contribute to achieving the highest level of compliance in your department

- Contribute to achieving the highest level of output (quality, accuracy and compliance)

- Keep accurate records of critical control points (HACCP)

- Know and carry out all procedures thoroughly

- Ensure company time (staff hours) is tightly controlled, monitored and fulfilled efficiently.

- Provide feedback to staff, mostly support and praise.

- Set a high bar for staff and act if standards slip

- Answering the phone

- Rectify errors and take corrective actions

- Follow procedures to ensure site is secure (signing in visitors, doors shut/locked, shutters down)

- Communicate well with emails/Teams/Whatsapp (not expected out of work hours)

- Report to management immediately if anything goes wrong related to Food Safety or Health and Safety

- Attend and contribute to meetings/briefings.
- Be a "Responsible Person" in the case of an emergency

- Be responsible for the site when on duty and be a key holder

Job Requirements:

- Previous experience as an Order Picker or similar role preferred

- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks

- Proficient in using warehouse equipment preferred

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order picking and packing

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity targets

- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team

- Full manual driving licence

- Ability to reliably travel to work

You will need to be fit, enjoy physical work, be positive and open to training and learning new skills. Forklift experience is required, or you must be willing to learn. A full manual driving licence is also required as the job involves moving our vans. You should have your own reliable transport to work.

The position is 5 shifts a week, Sunday to Friday nights with every Saturday night off and one other night off per week on rota. Shifts start at 12am with varying finishing times.

The pay is 14.25 per hour. You can also benefit from our healthcare plan (also covers any dependent children) and Nest Pension Scheme.
