Job Title: Night support worker (Zero-hours contract)

Reports to: Treatment Manager

Aim:

To monitor, support and observe clients in the evening and overnight, ensuring their physical safety, especially those undergoing medical detox.

Main Duties and responsibilities

To assist clients by providing practical and emotional support. To administer medication as per the medication policy, as instructed by the Doctor/ Nurse Take clients vital signs and report any 'out of range' readings to the Nursing team, Doctor or on-call. Carry out patient observations as per the observations protocol. To carry out CIWA-ar and COWS assessments on clients undergoing detox as per the alcohol and opiate detox protocols. To carry our random urine and breathalyser testing, as per the alcohol and opiate detox protocols. To record all interventions that are undertaken with clients on OneView client management system and report to the counselling or clinical team any concerns. To participate in handover meetings and to provide a handover to day staff upon end of shift. To complete incident reports in a timely manner for any incidents or accidents which occur during your shift. To discharge clients in line with the discharge procedure where required and as directed. To manage the out of hours emergency phone and ensure it is answered at all times and liaise with on call if required. To prepare breakfast for clients, ensuring all clients are ready for breakfast and the start of the treatment day. To make sure all lights/heating and electrical devices in the house are turned off at the end of your shift. To complete an 'End of day' checklist upon completion of the waking night shift. When a client leaves treatment, ensure beds are cleaned with fresh linen applied and soiled linen disposed of in clinical waste. To clean up any spillages, human or otherwise, using the correct spillage kit if appropriate and ensuring patient safety using wet floor signs etc Monitor clients to ensure they have sufficient fluid and nutritional intake, ensuring they have enough food supplies etc. delegating volunteers to help people to shop and cook an evening meal. To assist and motivate clients to clean their own rooms, wash clothes etc. Ensure all clients attend fellowship meetings. Report directly to their line manager and undergo regular supervision and CPD. Always ensure confidentiality, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity.
Pay: Up to 14.00 per hour
