There will be regular opportunities for extra shifts to cover holidays for the right candidate
Rate of Pay: 16 per hour
This job would be suitable for students as it allows for periods of downtime, during which studies can be completed once all general responsibilities are fulfilled
About Us:
We are a compassionate and caring family seeking an Overnight Caregiver to provide dedicated support for our 14 year-old daughter who has Muscular Dystrophy and Autism. We are committed to finding an individual who is patient, empathetic, and reliable. Our priority is to ensure her comfort, safety, and overall well-being during the overnight hours.
Responsibilities:
Provide overnight care and support for our daughter, including repositioning, administering medications through her peg, and assisting with intimate care (such as changing)
Stay actively awake and attentive throughout the night to address any needs or discomfort our daughter may have.
Effectively communicate and interact with our daughter using patience and understanding, recognising her communication preferences and limitations.
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our daughter during the night.
Be open to potential changes in the care routine and be flexible.
Complete necessary documentation related to medication administration, care routines, and any significant events during the night.
Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to stay awake and alert during overnight hours.
Strong communication skills with a patient and empathetic approach.
Compassionate understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with Muscular Dystrophy and Autism.
Ability to adapt to changing situations and routines.
Reliable and punctual for expected shift
Previous experience in caregiving or related roles is required
Must adhere to our family's guidelines and routines regarding the care of our daughter.
Applicant must be over the age of 18.
Subject to enhanced DBS check.
Additional Information:
Caregiver must bring their own food and refreshments, as access to the kitchen is not available during the overnight shift.
Our daughter must not be left alone, except when the caregiver needs to use the attached bathroom for personal needs.
The bathroom is conveniently located next to the bedroom for ease of access.
