The Pharmacy Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy and requires a strong focus on quick, efficient and accurate dispensing of medication, staff supervision, service delivery, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of leading operational, clinical and financial control of a pharmacy.
Duties
Managing and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to protocols.
Planning the dispensary workload, monitoring and reprioritising tasks as required.
Monthly checking of the drug tariff for price concessions and category changes
Management of the Core Patients and monitored dosage system processes to ensure patients medicines are managed and delivered Management of Care Homes planning to ensure scripts are ordered, labelled and Mars prepared to meet the delivery timescales of monthly medication. Ensuring interim medicines are delivered effectively
Optimising the efficiency of the dispensary and the delivery of prescriptions
Counting prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms and submitting prescriptions monthly to the NHS Prescription Services; dealing with prescriptions returned by the NHS Prescription Services
Ensuring all staff are knowledgeable on all services and optimising all income opportunities through Pharmaoutcomes and other sources
Managing all emails effectively ensuring all are monitored and actions arising from them are acted upon swiftly
Ensuring the dispensary and pharmacy are compliant with all NHS and GPhC regulations, governance and contractual matters e.g. Pharmacy Quality Scheme adherence and optimisation, Clinical Governance, CD recording, Fridge monitoring, Dispensing Errors, Business Continuity Planning, Drug recall management, Near Miss reporting etc
Effective management of stock both dispensary and OTC
Effective management of all consumables to ensure the dispensary operation is optimised
Management of the website to ensure all orders are dealt with effectively and within the shortest period of time
