Job Description

We are looking for a highly motived Nuclear Medicine Radiographer/Technician to work in our busy department in York. York is a wonderful city within North Yorkshire, an area renowned for its beaches, National Parks, and history.
We have recently installed a Siemens Symbia Pro.specta SPECT/CT, and we are driving our service forward to deliver a modern, efficient molecular imaging service for patients in the region.
We are a multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality, user-friendly nuclear medicine service. We are friendly and inclusive with a great skill mix which helps us support each other to provide excellent patient centred care.

Main duties of the job
As part of the Nuclear Medicine team, you will be required to work in our Nuclear Medicine department and radiopharmacy. Some of the aspects of your role will include the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals under section 10 of the Medicines Act, perform QC testing of NM equipment, administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients via various routes. You will provide a safe, patient centred service, working within the standard operating procedures for both nuclear medicine and radiopharmacy, and adhering to IRR17 and IR(ME)R2017 regulations.
Depending on experience you will also authorise certain nuclear medicine requests under delegation of the ARSAC Practitioner.
We are a forward-thinking department that values our staff and are committed to advanced practice, with a number of AHPs currently undertaking extended roles. As a department we encourage the progression of our AHPs to develop from a Band 5 (Preceptor) to Band 6 (Specialist) via a supported competency-based run through.
Opportunities exist within the Radiology directorate for Radiographers/Technicians to undertakefunded post-graduate study in all modalities. Recent qualifications obtained by staff include post graduate certificates / diplomas in Nuclear Medicine, MRI, CT, Forensics, and Image Reporting.
We currently support students in their training from the Universities of Leeds and Hull. Staff are given training and support to become mentors and assessors.
