Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Nurse qualified deputy Unit Manager

Responsibilities will include but not limited to;

Provide leadership and support for care staff as well as day-to-day supervision. To work in conjunction with the Unit Manager to ensure all aspects of staff management are conducted in a timely, proportionate and compassionate manner, to ensure that standards are of the highest level. To conduct induction training, shadowing and competency sign off for new starters. Ensure that our residents care, welfare and safety is of the highest standards and in compliance with statutory regulations. Be responsible for effective shift handovers, the development and updating of care plans, as well as conducting risk assessments and home audits as required. Administering medication in line with the Care Homes medication policy and assist in keeping accurate records. Assist residents in all aspects of their personal care, provide support at meal times and assisting with personal hygiene. Also providing attention when needed and ensuring all residents retain their dignity in comfort and respect. Working collaboratively with the Wellbeing and Activities team, Housekeeping team, and Catering teams. Delivering dignified care for residents who are at the end of their lives. Ensure the effective and efficient management of medical consumables and supplies. Support the Senior Management Team in delivering the CQC requirements of a safe, caring, responsive, effective and well led service.

Shifts are 07.00 - 19.30 and including a one hour unpaid breaks per shift. Shift pattern is 7 days over two weeks on the following basis
Week 1 Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun

Week 2 Weds, Thurs, Fri

You must have significant experience in adult social care which must include leading a team of care staff to drive high quality care and deliver excellent outcomes in the areas of customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance You will have a proactive approach, be highly organised and and be comfortable working on your own initiative. You will have lots of enthusiasm for encouraging and motivating others. You will have great communication skills both verbal and written. Competent in IT skills with a keen willingness to learn new software. Effective time management skills, flexibility and adaptability to change are also key skills. Experience of dementia care is essential as over 50% of our residents live with some form of dementia.

You must have kindness in bucketloads, empathy and sensitivity, and of course a sense of humour!


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to 20.00 per hour
