Role of a Childcare Apprentice
A childcare apprentice plays a hands?on role in supporting the care, learning, and development of children aged 0-5 while working toward an Early Years qualification (usually Level 2 or Level 3). The role blends

Supporting Children's Learning & Development
Help deliver
play?based activities
that support the EYFS areas of learning
Observe children and contribute to
learning journals
(e.g., Tapestry) with photos, notes, and next steps
Support children to develop independence, communication, imagination, and social skills
Assist in planning activities that meet individual children's needs and developmental stages
Requirements
Aged 16+
(no upper age limit)
Right to work in the UK
Willingness to complete training and assessments
Interest in working with children aged 0-5
Ability to pass a DBS check
(usually arranged by the employer)

1. Child Development Knowledge
Understanding of how children grow and learn from birth to age 5
Awareness of developmental milestones
Ability to observe children and recognise their needs
