We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Assistant to join our team, providing essential support in a nurturing environment for children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and possess skills in food safety and preparation. This role is vital in ensuring that children receive healthy meals while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Duties
Assist in the preparation of meals and snacks for children, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
Support in the preparation / baking of desserts and puddings.
Help maintain a clean and organised kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces.
Support the lead cook in meal preparation, including chopping vegetables and assembling ingredients.
Ensure that all food is stored correctly and labelled as per health regulations.
Collaborate with other nursery staff to create a welcoming atmosphere for children during meal times.
Assist in serving meals to children, encouraging healthy eating habits and positive mealtime experiences.
Participate in maintaining an engaging and safe environment for children throughout the nursery.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary setting is preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of food safety practices and meal preparation techniques is advantageous.
A genuine interest in child development and well-being is essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs within the nursery environment.
A positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with young children are crucial for success in this role.
We would consider a candidate that could work 3 or more days;
Monday - 9am-4.45pm (1 hour break)
Tuesday - 2.45pm-4.45pm
Wednesday - 9am-4.45pm (1 hour break)
Thursday - 9am to 1pm
Friday - 9am to 1pm
