Royston Day Nursery is looking for a passionate Nursery Assistant to join our growing team. You'll be part of a close-knit team and within this role, you'll help ensure top-quality care, education, and compliance, while contributing to the smooth daily running of the nursery. Building positive relationships with parents, colleagues, and management is key.
Based near the centre of Royston on Lumen Road, a 5 minute walk away from the train station we have good transport links. The nursery also has its own carpark which is perfect for drivers.
This full-time role will be working 40 hours per week. Please note, the nursery operates year-round and is not restricted to term time. While formal qualifications are not required, a genuine passion for childcare and some relevant experience are essential.
As Nursery Assistant, you will:
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times
Understand the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS and staff:child ratios
Provide engaging and purposeful experiences, environments and resources to children, that are appropriate to their age and stage of development
Facilitate a strong key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and cover all children daily when colleagues are absent
Observe and support children's development, update the EyLog system and children's learning journals with accuracy and relevance, and seek guidance from colleagues or Room Leader if in doubt
Provide the all-around daily needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development

As Nursery Assistant, you will need:
Undertaking a full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification - desirable
Fluent in written and spoken English - essential
Over 6 months experience of working in Early Years - essential
Knowledge of the Statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - desirable
