Puddleducks Bedford is looking for a passionate and driven chef to join the team!



Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm all year round (can be more or less depending on needs)

The nursery is a busy and thriving setting, set in an old farmland with parking and great facilities. The nursery boasts a large kitchen with plenty of appliances and utensils to create some incredible food for the little ones to feast on.

The Chef will be responsible for the running of the kitchen and would provide excellent nutrition for all our children attending that setting. Our menus are designed to be diverse and enticing, and we welcome the input of new ideas and improvements!

Responsibilities:



Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Maintain clean working station while adhering to health & safety standards Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment Restock items as needed throughout the shift Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards Follow recipes and presentation specifications Input and design of termly menus Weekly shopping (done online) Aware of Local Authority and Statutory Health and Safety/environmental legislation and Healthy Eating Safer Food Better Business. To maintain records and standards within the Food Standards Agency. Be able to report any faults or concerns regarding the kitchen.

About you:



Full and relevant Food Hygiene qualification at level 2 or above (if not then training can be provided) Preferred knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and how this is monitored in a nursery setting (if not then training can be provided) Preferred experience working in a kitchen based in an early year's setting To understand and promote a healthy lifestyle for our children To continually strive for best practice in yourself and inspiring others. To have a passion for making a difference in their communities. Being passionate about preparing fresh, balanced, nutritious meals for the babies and children in the nursery. Able to communicate effectively with all staff to ensure correct delivery of meals and snacks the meet the specific needs of children. Good hygiene practice is essential. Allergy Awareness and catering qualification is desirable. A team player with the ability to use own initiative
Successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS check or be on the DBS Update service.

Job Types: Permanent, Part-time

Pay: From 12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 30 per week
