Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a nursery chef. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in food preparation and cooking following good food hygiene standards. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality meals while adhering to food safety standards and Setting the Table guidance.

We are a large nursery where at our busiest term time, you may be cooking for 80-100 children so you must be comfortable for preparing and cooking for large numbers.

Working hours would be ranging from 35 to 37.5 a week. These hours are flexible with the managers approval.

Holiday entitlement is 28 days in a complete holiday year (January to December)

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established menus. Cater to different dietary requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients. Adhere to food safety protocols and hygiene regulations at all times. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours. Participate in inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as needed.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles is essential. Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is highly desirable. Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations. Willing to undergo food hygiene and infection control training. Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration. Willing to undergo a disclosure for a PVG.
