We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Cook to join our team. This is an essential role in the Nursery. The successful candidate will be responsible for cooking home cooked meals daily and following our menus. Also ensuring a high level of hygiene and cleanliness is observed at all times.
Appointment to this position is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with you adding yourself to the update service.
Start Date: ASAP but by Monday 19th January 2026 allowing a 2 week hand over.
Interviews: Week Commencing 6th January 2026.
Duties
Prepare, cook from scratch, and present a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Manage food safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in compliance with health regulations (Food Temperatures, Fridge and Freezer Temperatures)
Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and controlling waste
Being able to follow a menu and if needs be adapt at short notice
Monitor food presentation and ensure consistency across all dishes served
Maintain equipment and work areas to the highest standards of hygiene and safety
Be able to cook for a range of food preferences (Allergies, Tolerances etc)
Stick to a specific time scale of when food needs to be served.
Skills
Extensive food production and culinary experience, including food preparation and cooking techniques
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
Experience working in restaurants, hospitality settings or a nursery kitchen due to the range of food preferences
Leadership qualities with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
Good understanding of food presentation, flavour combinations, and menu development
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and management
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 8:30 till 13:30
Experience
Cooking: 1 to 2 Years (Preferred)
Kitchen Experience: 1 to 2 Years (Preferred)
Qualifications
Food Hygiene at Level 3
Paediatric First Aid (Preferable)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: 12.21-12.22 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
