Job Description

Safari Stars Nursery are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic nursery chef.

The hours will be 8:45am-5:15pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break included, Monday to Friday.

You will work in the nursery kitchen planning and preparing, nutritious, healthy, balanced meals for children age 6months to 5years that they enjoy.
Meals given on a daily basis include, 2 snacks, 1 main hot meal and a dessert and 1 light tea with a serving of fresh fruit.

You will receive full induction training before starting the role to ensure you are able to deliver the following;

- Fresh cooked, healthy meals from scracth for children as outlined on our nursery menu.

- Working in conjunction with the Manager for planning and reviewing the menus.

- Monitoring inventory levels and planning the weekly shopping list.

- Washing up all equipment used after each meal and wash up all crockery and cutlery after children's meals.

-Ensuring all dietary needs are catered for.

- Ensuring the kitchen and dining areas are kept to the highest standards of cleanliness and adhere to guidelines for Health and Hygiene set by the Government Health Authority. Adopting a robust daily and weekly cleaning routine.

- Ensuring all food is stored and prepared to standards set by the Environmental Health Authority.

- Completing all required paperworkand keeping this up to date.

-To be held accountable for the standard of the kitchen and preparation of the food and serving of food during all inspection processes.

- To work as part of the nursery team.

Experience and Knowledge



Understanding of a balanced nutritional menu for under 5's
Understanding of standards required by inspecting bodies
Proven experience as a chef in a similar setting, making homecooked, meals for children - have experience of providing meals adhering to dietary requirements and preference.
Understanding basic weaning guidelines for young babies.
Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality dishes
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices

Qualifications



Minimum Level 2 qualification in food and hygiene and willingness to take on further training.

Pay: 12.50-14.00 per hour
