You will need to have good organisational and communication skills, as well as high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness. You will be expected to hold at least a Level 2 Food and Hygiene certificate and a minimum of 6 months experience of cooking for young children. You will need to organise, freshly prepare and cook a healthy, balanced diet for around 50 children aged 6 months to 5 years in accordance with our nursery menus. You will be wholly responsible for the safe and hygienic management of our nursery kitchen by ensuring high standards of hygiene and that health and safety is maintained in the kitchen at all times.
This position is part-time Monday to Friday (hours to be discussed). You will be rewarded with 28 days holiday including Bank holidays. Salary is based on previous experience
Your Main Duties will include:
Providing balanced and nutritional meals for all children attending the nursery, including providing separate meals for children with specific dietary requirement. This will include using allergy reports and liaising with the childcare team and carers as required.
To adhere to the Policies & Procedures of our Nursery and compliance with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety and within the guidelines of Ofsted.
To ensure that all relevant records are kept in line with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene to satisfy the Environmental Health Department.
To plan ahead with the childcare team with regard to food required for children's activities and special events in the nursery.
To ensure that hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen, including the daily thorough cleaning of kitchen equipment such as microwaves, fridges and cupboards is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation.
To ensure that all foods and snacks are ready at the specified time and correctly served, making sure that the correct food is served to children with known allergies.
To ensure systems for stock rotation are implemented. Ordering stock in line with requirements. Maintaining correct stock levels, ensuring all stock is clearly labelled to include expiry dates.
Washing up after snacks and meals.
