Job Description

MiniStars Day Nursery is an established nursery operating since April 2004. We offer a calm yet innovative environment with a distinctive combination of the highest standards of childcare within an educational, nurturing and home from home setting. We are looking for a nursery Chef to work alongside our well established staff team.

Requirements of the Nursery Cook



You would ideally hold a qualification in culinary skills Would ideally have 1 years experience working in an early years setting or providing food for children. A commitment to the welfare and safeguarding children requirements and the ability to work in a way which promotes children's welfare at all times. Knowledgeable with regards to Health and Safety Legislation and aware of own responsibilities within the law. Excellent knowledge of the HACCP, Safer Food Better Business and Environmental Health regulations.

Main Responsibilities



Working in partnership with the management team to devise healthy and nutritious rotating menus suitable for all children following current guidelines and legislation. Providing meals for nursery children, staff and for special functions when required. Following strict special diet procedures and ensuring all children with specific dietary needs are catered for at all times. Ensure food is served at the correct temperatures as directed by food safety guidelines, and on time for the children's mealtimes. Monitor and record in writing all temperatures in fridges, freezers and deliveries. Supporting room staff to provide stimulating and nutritious cooking activities for the children as part of the curriculum. Maintaining high levels of customer service when introduced to prospective parents, dealing with current parents and children. All other ad hoc duties as requested by nursery management.

The chef would also have a part time assistant

Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred but you can attain this qualification with us.
