Job Description

We are looking for a nursery cook & housekeeper to join our very friendly team, you will work as part of the team and will be responsible for running the kitchen and the housekeeping of the nursery, ensuring the environment is kept organised and maintains a high standard of cleanliness at all times.

We are a very small nursery (converted house), so you would be cooking for no more than 40 children per day.

Experience of working in a kitchen within a care or educational settling would be good, although I will consider other applicants.
Food hygiene certificate is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Duties include;

- To prepare nutritious meals and snacks, suitable from birth - 5 years, following our nursery 3 week menu and catering for special dietary requirements.
- To maintain levels of stock appropriate for menu requirements.
- To assist with distribution and portion control and promotion of healthy eating.
- To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene including a neat and tidy appearance.
- To cook and store foods with a high standard of hygiene.
- To wear appropriate protective clothing whilst in the kitchen.
- To correctly store and label all foods fresh or frozen.
- To safely dispose of all kitchen waste.
- To maintain all kitchen equipment including the cleaning and washing of crockery and cutlery.
- To ensure that the nursery staff follow good levels of hygiene when in the kitchen.
- To maintain records required by law.

- To maintain the cleanliness of the nursery and attend to usual housekeeping duties.

The successful candidate will be required to be DBS registered and therefore will need to go through a police check.
