We care for up to 54 children at a time, and pride ourselves on the qualifications of our staff and our relationships with parents. Staff are supported to do additional training and are able to suggest training that they'd like to undertake. Safeguarding is paramount to us and a clear enhanced DBS and references are essential.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a nursery cook to join our team of 19 in providing high-quality meals and snacks for young children. The ideal candidate will be an organised individual , a good plain cook and an interest in working with children and helping to create a nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- preparing lunch and tea, and a snack, for up to 54 children per day
- Planning and delivering healthy and nutritious food, suitable for a range of ages between 4 months and 5 years to support children's wellbeing
- Communicating effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
- Manage daily routines and ensure the safety and cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room
- Drive improvement in the menus and food provision offered by the setting
Experience:
- Previous experience of working as a cook, regardless of the sector
- Working with children in a nursery or early years setting is desirable
- Hold relevant qualifications in food hygiene, and health and safety as it applies to food storage and production Training will be provided, and indeed required, so it is not essential that all courses are up to date
- Excellent communication skills to engage with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety
- Passion for creating nutritious food for young children
