Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our nursery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food safety, with a flair for creating delicious dishes aimed at children from aged 6 months to 5 years, following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our children enjoy high-quality meals that meet our nursery standards, and meet the requirements for children's development.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of healthy dishes for lunches and teas. Prepare afternoon snack for the nursery. Assist in the planning and preparation of meals, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Where necessary, you may be required to purchase milk and fresh foods as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen and dining areas adhering to food safety regulations at all times. Help with inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimising waste. Work collaboratively with the childcare staff to run basic cooking classes with the children.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a catering environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment operation. Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure. A passion for cooking and creating exciting and varied meals for children.

Hours of work

20 hours over the week, either Monday-Friday for 9-1, or Monday-Thursday 9-2 (ensuring you prep up for Friday meals).
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: Up to 13.20 per hour
