The Deputy Manager supports daily nursery operations, leads their room team, and steps in for the Manager when required. They help create a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where children thrive, ensure high-quality EYFS-aligned learning, and build strong relationships with families.

Key Responsibilities



Assist with daily operations, including opening and closing and managing staff. Act as DSL when needed. Lead and mentor staff to deliver excellent care and education. Build positive relationships with parents and carers. Plan and deliver engaging EYFS activities. Recognise individual needs and celebrate achievements. Maintain a clean, safe environment and complete risk assessments. Oversee records, audits, and administrative tasks. Deputise for the Manager on Fridays and during absence.

Requirements



Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum). DSL training or willingness to complete. Experience in a nursery or childcare setting; supervisory or Room Leader experience. Strong EYFS knowledge including planning, delivery and assessment. Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills. Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and inclusive practice. DBS check required; Paediatric First Aid, SEN or Food Hygiene desirable. Positive, proactive, calm, and passionate about child development.

Pay: Up to 16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
