Nursery Deputy Manager

Job Description

The Deputy Manager is responsible to the Manager and has overall management responsibility for the Day Nursery in their absence. This is a room based role and requires a Deputy Manager who has excellent staff management skills with an ability to motivate and support staff to raise and maintain high standards across the nursery.

Your responsibilities will include :

Complying with the Children's Act, Health and Safety legislation and work within the guidelines of Ofsted and the EYFS Be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Nursery in the absence of the Manger ensuring effective daily management and adhering to Nursery Policies and Procedures Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand and, when necessary, follow Safeguarding
Procedures.

Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents/carers and other family members. Support the development of good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion. Create and maintain a culture of self evaluation and reflective practise throughout the nursery. Support, supervise, train and appraise all staff to ensure delivery of high quality childcare practice, alongside the Manager. Providing a good role model for nursery practitioners, assistants and students and supporting them where necessary Ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development following the Nursery Curriculum Caring for and supervising children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs, and ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all children, positively promoting and managing children's behaviour Establishing, developing and maintaining professional working relationships with all external agencies Over seeing that the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety and security within the nursery are maintained Monitoring and ensuring quality and Health and Safety standards are maintained at all times.
Monitoring and assessing observations to ensure they are accurate and up to date.

To be forward thinking and implement new ideas in a positive way, encouraging staff to adapt to change with a 'can do' attitude. Deal with grievances or disciplinary matters in accordance with Nursery Policy Ensure the Nursery is prepared at any time for an Ofsted inspection, and any recommendations are actioned. Communicate with all parents via email and Connect when necessary. Design and write leaflets/articles around various childcare topics i.e. home learning ideas, Be competent and confident with using a computer and having the ability to use various programs such as Word, Excel and Power point. Assist with the recruitment process, including following safer recruitment procedures. Write and update risk assessment

The salary of listed is based on a full-time equivalent and will be adjusted on a pro rata basis for the part-time hours.

This position is initially offered as a maternity cover contract; however, there may be an opportunity for the role to evolve depending on company needs.

Pay: 27,000.00-29,000.00 per year
