The Role


Our Nursery Deputy Manager plays a key part in supporting the daily running of the nursery and ensuring high-quality care and education for all children. Alongside responsibilities as a Room Leader, the Deputy Manager will support the Nursery Manager with operational duties, step in to manage the nursery in her absence, and help to create a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities



Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery. Coordinating shifts with the Nursery Manager to open and close the nursery as required. Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the Nursery Manager's absence and complete relevant training. Lead by example, supporting and mentoring employees to deliver high-quality care and education. Handle parent and carer enquiries in a professional, friendly, and supportive manner. Deputise for the Nursery Manager on her non-working day (Fridays) and when she is on holiday or absent.

Childcare and Development:



Create a fun, engaging, and safe environment aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that support each child's learning and development. Celebrate children's achievements and identify any areas for additional support. Ensure that every child's individual needs are recognised and met. Maintain a positive and inclusive approach to learning and play.

Ensure a clean, organised, and safe environment is maintained throughout the nursery. Conduct regular risk assessments and report any issues promptly. Follow all health, safety, and safeguarding procedures.

Administrative Tasks:



Complete and oversee daily records, including attendance, accident reports, and observations. Assist with audits, compliance checks, and inventory management. Support with record keeping and documentation as required by the Nursery Manager.

Person Specification



Education:



A Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education. DSL training or willingness to complete it. Additional qualifications such as Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, or SEN training are desirable.

Experience:



Proven experience working in a nursery or childcare setting. Experience as a Room Leader or in a similar supervisory role. Confident in planning, delivering, and assessing early years activities.

Skills and Attributes:



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and organisational abilities. A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development. Ability to work calmly under pressure and adapt to changing situations. A positive, proactive, and professional approach.

Other Requirements:



A clear understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusive practice. Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide references. Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Pay: 16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
