We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our clients nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and child development. The Deputy Manager will assist in supervising staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a positive atmosphere for both children and staff members.
Responsibilities
Assist the Manager in overseeing the daily running of the nursery or childcare centre
Support staff in delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development
Supervise staff members, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and early childhood education standards
Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress and centre updates
Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support recruitment efforts when necessary
Lead by example to promote a positive team environment centred around teamwork and professionalism
Assist in managing administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning activities, and reporting to senior management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided
Qualifications
Proven management or supervisory experience within a childcare setting or nursery environment
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff
Experience working with children, ideally within early childhood education or childcare settings
Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and team members
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
Experience with children who have special needs is advantageous
Valid driving licence is desirable for travel between centres or community engagement activities
