We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the smooth operation of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and childcare. This role involves assisting the Manager in overseeing daily activities, ensuring high standards of care, and fostering a nurturing environment for children. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in maintaining organisational efficiency and supporting staff development.
Duties
Assist the Manager in supervising daily centre operations and staff management
Support the planning and implementation of educational programmes suitable for children's developmental stages
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and childcare standards
Lead by example in delivering high-quality childcare and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
Organise staff rotas, oversee attendance, and support recruitment processes
Contribute to staff training programmes and professional development initiatives
Maintain accurate records related to children's progress, attendance, and incident reports
Support with administrative tasks such as budgeting, procurement, and reporting
Drive responsibilities may include transporting children safely to outings or activities when required
Skills
Proven management experience within childcare or nursery settings
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a team
Experience working with children, ideally within early childhood education or nursery environments
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Knowledge of child development principles and childcare regulations
Ability to organise tasks efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail
Good interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or staff when necessary
