Summary
We are seeking a passionate Nursery & Flying Start Practitioner to join our team at Hill Tots House Day Nursery. This role is crucial in fostering a nurturing environment for children, contributing to our mission of supporting community development and providing quality childcare services.
Purpose of Role
To provide a high standard of physical, personal, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children within the unit.
To value children as individuals through a loving, child-centred approach.
To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all children can play, learn and develop.
To be a key worker in the Flying Start Team.
Key Areas
Work with children and support children's education and development.
Assist in the planning of the Nursery & Flying Start provision alongside the Nursery Manager, Flying Start Lead & Advisory Teachers.
Ensure room and equipment is kept in good working order.
Support the needs of the children with additional learning needs.
Liaise with Parents/Carers.
Duties and Responsibilities
To undertake specific job-related tasks as directed by the Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager and Flying Start Advisory Teacher.
To work within agreed policies including behaviour management, confidentiality, child protection, Health and Safety and equal opportunities.
To develop strong links with the parents by providing support, information and ensuring communication of all information required.
To adhere to the policies and procedures of Hill Tots House Day Nursery and compliance with the Children's Act.
Preparation of snacks and lunches in accordance with the settings authorised menus.
Keep children's records, progress reports and daily diaries up to date.
To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
To be responsible for 'key children' and having a duty to ensure that the development and progress of those children are closely followed and monitored.
To participate in regular staff meetings, supervisions, fundraising and centre events.
To undertake any relevant Flying Start/Mandatory childcare training.
Any other duties deemed appropriate by the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
Relevant qualifications in early childhood education or childcare Level 3.
Safeguarding Level B, Food Hygiene & Paediatric First Aid (full Qualification)
Proven experience working in a nursery or similar childcare setting for 2 years.
Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with children and families.
A passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
