Nursery Kitchen Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary:

In this role, you will support the smooth running of our nursery kitchen by:

Preparing tasty, balanced meals for children Maintaining the kitchen to a high standard of cleanliness Ensuring Health & Safety standards are consistently met Holding a current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable) Managing a simple and effective stock control system Reporting to the Manager and Health & Safety Officer Providing cover for the Chef during absences

Specific Tasks:

As our Kitchen Assistant, your day-to-day duties will include:

Assisting the Chef with the preparation of lunch and tea Covering for the Chef during periods of absence, ensuring meals are prepared and served to the same high standard Preparing trays for children's snack times (drinks, fruit, etc) for staff collection Collecting trays from rooms and washing/drying all equipment Setting up individual trolleys for lunch and tea service Ensuring hygiene requirements are fully met during meal times Helping to clear away after meals Assisting with cleaning work areas and large equipment (fridges, freezers, etc) to keep them clean, safe and well maintained Sweeping and mopping the kitchen daily after meal service Creating and maintaining an effective stock control system Producing a weekly shopping list using this system and ensuring stock rotation Completing documentation required for the Better Food, Safer Businessrecord-keeping system Supporting the Chef with additional tasks such as washing, drying and folding nursery laundry Undertaking any required training Working collaboratively as part of the team Covering staff absences when needed Carrying out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager
