Role Overview

As a dedicated Kitchen Assistant your role involves supporting the Nursery Chef in preparing and presenting age-appropriate meals to the highest standards within a clean, secure kitchen environment. Uphold meticulous kitchen hygiene and safety standards, aligning with internal and external requirements.

Your behaviour sets the tone for a child-friendly atmosphere, and you cater thoughtfully to dietary needs while maintaining clear communication with the team.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Chef during meal service by assisting with food preparation and delivering meals to the rooms.

Wash and sanitise kitchenware, including dishes, utensils, and food preparation areas.

Ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.

Assist with keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with nursery policies.

Support the safe storage of food and kitchen supplies.

What we require from you:

Previous experience of working with children Understanding of how a nursery/school kitchen operates Experience of working within a professional Kitchen environment Experience of providing support to colleagues in kitchen environment Basic Knowledge of COSHH Level 2 award or above in food safety or willingness to complete Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and hygiene requirements Ability to work as part of a team, fostering positive relationships Neat and professional appearance, with a commitment to company policies Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain a DBS Understanding of the importance of equal opportunities in the workplace Awareness of cultural and religious dietary requirements Ability to stand for extensive periods
