Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Lunch Cover to provide essential support during lunchtime periods at our early childhood education centre. This role offers an opportunity to work within a nurturing environment, ensuring children enjoy a safe and enjoyable mealtime experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising children, maintaining a positive atmosphere, and assisting with their wellbeing during lunch hours. Previous experience in childcare or nursery settings is preferred, along with strong communication skills and a caring attitude.

Duties

Supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times Assist children with their meals, encouraging good manners and independence Maintain a clean and organised dining area before and after meals Support children in socialising and engaging in positive behaviour during lunch periods Communicate effectively with staff and parents regarding children's needs or concerns Follow nursery policies on health, safety, and hygiene standards Assist with organising activities or playtime following lunch, if required Ensure adherence to all safeguarding procedures and protocols

Requirements

Experience with children, ideally within nursery or early childhood education settings Knowledge of childcare practices and child development principles Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written Management and leadership skills to oversee children's behaviour effectively Childcare qualifications or nursery experience are highly desirable Ability to work flexibly during designated lunchtime hours on a casual basis Driving licence is advantageous for roles requiring travel between sites or errands A caring, patient, and organised approach to working with young children
