We are seeking a dedicated and caring Nursery Lunch Cover to support our early childhood education team. This role involves supervising children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety, and fostering a positive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with children and possess strong communication skills, with the ability to manage behaviour and engage children in a nurturing manner. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in childcare and early childhood education to gain valuable hands-on experience within a supportive setting.
Duties
Supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
Assist with the organisation of lunch routines, including serving meals and encouraging good table manners
Engage children in light activities or conversations to promote social interaction and enjoyment
Maintain a clean and hygienic environment, including tidying up after meals and sanitising surfaces
Support children with behavioural management in line with nursery policies
Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children to ensure smooth lunchtime operations
Follow all health and safety guidelines, including safeguarding procedures
Assist with any additional childcare duties as required during the nursery session
Qualifications
Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is highly desirable
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare practices
strong understanding of safeguarding
Strong management and leadership skills to oversee children's activities during lunch
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
Childcare qualifications or relevant training (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Childcare) are preferred but not essential
Valid driving licence is advantageous for transportation purposes if required
A caring attitude, patience, organisational skills, and the ability to work independently within a team
