We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare facility. This role may also be offered as a

alongside our current manager, providing flexibility for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who can work
3-5 days per week, term?time only
, and who will work closely with our
Deputy Manager
to ensure smooth, consistent leadership across the setting.
The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with a genuine passion for early childhood education and childcare. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining high standards of service and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Nursery Manager will play a vital role in leading a team of staff, engaging with parents, and fostering a positive atmosphere within the nursery.
Duties
Manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, including staff scheduling, planning activities, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
Lead, motivate, and supervise nursery staff to deliver high-quality childcare and early childhood education programmes
Develop and implement educational activities that promote children's development across all areas
Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of staff members
Ensure the nursery adheres to all legal requirements and best practices in childcare provision
Organise regular staff meetings to promote team cohesion and continuous improvement
Monitor the nursery environment to ensure it remains safe, clean, and welcoming for children and staff
Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, budgeting, and reporting as required
Drive the nursery's vision by fostering an inclusive, caring atmosphere that encourages learning through play
Requirements
Proven experience in nursery management or a similar leadership role within early childhood education
Strong management and organisational skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively
Experience working directly with children and understanding their developmental needs
Knowledge of childcare regulations, health & safety standards, and early childhood education frameworks
Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all children
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential; further qualifications in early childhood education are desirable
A valid Paediatric First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one prior to starting the role
An enhanced DBS check will be carried out, and it is a requirement that the successful candidate is registered with -- or joins -- the DBS Update Service
