Job Purpose:
The Nursery Manager is responsible for the
day-to-day management and leadership
of the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, and safety for all children. The role involves
leading a team of early years practitioners
, maintaining compliance with
Ofsted
and EYFS standards, and building strong relationships with parents, staff, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Management
Oversee the daily running of the nursery, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
Lead, support, and motivate staff to deliver high-quality childcare and education.
Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and team meetings.
Manage staff rotas, absences, and recruitment in line with ratio requirements.
Curriculum & Child Development
Ensure the EYFS framework is effectively implemented throughout the nursery.
Monitor planning, observations, and assessments to track children's progress.
Support the development of individual learning plans and ensure inclusive practices for all children.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Act as the
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
for the nursery.
Ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies are followed and updated regularly.
Maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations, health and safety, and company policies.
Keep accurate records including accident logs, medication forms, and child attendance.
Finance & Administration
Manage nursery budgets, fees, and occupancy levels effectively.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of funding claims and reports.
Liaise with local authorities, external agencies, and parents regarding funding and admissions.
Parent Partnerships
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers.
Provide regular communication and updates on children's development.
Manage parent queries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
Essential Requirements:
Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years Education (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent).
DBS Required
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a nursery leadership or management role.
In-depth knowledge of
EYFS
,
Ofsted
, and safeguarding legislation.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Food Hygiene training (or willingness to obtain).
