Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Early Years Manager to lead a unique, high-quality childcare setting with an intergenerational approach. This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-driven environment that brings together children and older adults in a shared learning space. The setting provides care and education for up to 80 children, from 9 months to pre-school age, and follows a warm, inclusive ethos grounded in community values.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in early years leadership and a passion for progressive education. You will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the setting, leading a committed team, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and maintaining the high standards of care, education, and innovation for which the nursery is known.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Management
Lead, motivate, and manage all early years and support staff to maintain a collaborative, high-performing culture.
Oversee performance appraisals, staff development, and recruitment.
Develop and implement long-term strategies for continuous improvement and growth, in partnership with the governing board.
Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and Ofsted requirements.
Maintain strong and supportive relationships with families and key community stakeholders.
Teaching & Learning
Ensure a rich, engaging curriculum in line with EYFS and the setting's intergenerational and inclusive values.
Monitor teaching quality and child outcomes, ensuring all children thrive.
Plan and deliver curriculum activities that support all learners, including those with additional needs.
Foster a culture of continuous reflection and improvement in teaching practice.
Support access to early intervention and additional services for families where needed.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring child protection procedures are robust and effective.
Promote a safeguarding-first culture across the team.
Ensure compliance with policies relating to health and safety, GDPR, and equality legislation.
Business Development & Finance
Collaborate with the business manager to oversee financial performance and budget planning.
Develop and deliver marketing strategies to grow enrolment and support revenue targets.
Strengthen the setting's profile in the community and ensure continued high ratings from regulators.
Operational Oversight
Ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations within a safe, nurturing environment.
Support the provision of nutritious, balanced meals in line with the setting's dietary practices.
Work with the board to regularly review and enhance operational policies and procedures.

Experience
Minimum five years of leadership experience in an early years or nursery setting.
Proven track record of curriculum planning, staff management, and quality assurance.
In-depth knowledge of the EYFS framework, child development, and safeguarding legislation.
Experience in working with SEND, inclusive education policies, and partnership with families.
Familiarity with early years financial management, business planning, and community engagement.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
Level 3 Early Years Qualification (Level 4 or above preferred).
Training in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Safer Recruitment.
Excellent administrative, IT, and organisational skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and develop others.
