Role Purpose



To provide strong, effective leadership and management of the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, safety, and service. You will lead by example, support and develop your team, promote positive relationships with families, and ensure the nursery meets all regulatory and organisational expectations.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management



Lead, inspire, and motivate the staff team to provide outstanding care and learning opportunities. Promote a positive, supportive, professional working culture. Manage staffing rotas, recruitment, inductions, team training, and continuous development. Conduct supervisions, appraisals, and performance reviews. Ensure all staff follow nursery policies, procedures, and safeguarding expectations.

Quality of Care & Education



Ensure the nursery environment is safe, stimulating, inclusive, and aligned with EYFS requirements. Oversee planning, observations, assessments, and curriculum quality. Support staff in delivering high-quality activities and learning experiences. Maintain excellent safeguarding practices and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (or support the DSL, depending on structure).

Parent & Community Partnerships



Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers. Provide clear communication and resolve concerns professionally. Promote the nursery within the local community to maintain its positive reputation.

Operational & Financial Responsibilities



Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the nursery. Manage budgets, occupancy levels, invoices, and resource purchasing. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by Ofsted and Busy Bunnies procedures. Ensure the nursery is always inspection-ready and fully compliant.

Health & Safety



Review risk assessments, health & safety policies, and incident reporting regularly. Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and well maintained. Lead on safeguarding, child protection, and safer recruitment.

Person SpecificationQualifications



Minimum

Level 3 Early Years qualification

(Level 5/6 preferred). Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to complete). Safeguarding/DSL training (or willingness to complete).

Experience



Strong experience within an early years setting. Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Manager, or Senior Early Years Leader. Robust understanding of EYFS, safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, and compliance.

Skills & Personal Qualities



Strong leadership and team-management abilities. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Warm, positive, professional, and child-focused approach. Ability to build strong relationships with staff, children, and families. Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality provision.

Hours & Employment Details



Full-time permanent position

Monday to Friday

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications Full-year role with flexible annual leave (37-40 hours per week, all year round)
