The role is 28.5 hours per week Monday-Wednesday

Job Purpose

1. Ensuring a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for the children placed in the Nursery.

2. To give support to other personnel in the Nursery.

3. To implement the daily routine.

Duties and Responsibilities

To support the room leader and take responsibility in her absence for the following:

1. Formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with your Room leader.

2. Prepare the children's records in your group and institute reviews for parents in conjunction with your room leader.

3. Work with parents of special needs children to achieve full integration in the Nursery.

4. Foresee the needs of special needs children and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate.

5. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

6. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.

7. Liaise with the Local Authority and other professionals associated with the Nursery.

8. Attend staff meetings outside working hours.

9. Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment and such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined for time to time by the room leader.

10. Participate in the training programmes of a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and volunteers), by giving guidance and support.

11. To ensure goods standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children.

12. Record accidents in the accident book. Ensure the room leader has initialled the report before the parent receives it.

13. To ensure confidentially of information received.

14. To develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring needs.

15. Ensure children are collected by someone know to the Nursery.

16. Undertake any duty reasonably asked of you.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. Therefore, it is essential in making your application you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bind-overs or cautions and, if so, for which offences. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
