Nursery Practitioner

Helensburgh, SCT, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Company description

At Mulberry Bush our aim is to ensure all of our children feel at home and are happy, settled and comfortable in their surroundings. Everyone works hard to ensure our children and families have meaningful relationships and know each other well.

Our approach takes parts from Reggio, Steiner, Te Whariki and Montessori. Our environments are 'The third teacher 'and are set up daily with exciting and curious invitations to play and thoughtful provocations.

Throughout the nursery we provide a calm, natural environment to create a magical intriguing and enticing setting. We favour authentic everyday objects and wooden toys over plastic providing loose parts, open-ended resources and play opportunities. Our children use porcelain or china cups and plates to play and when eating at mealtimes.

The Mulberry Bush vision places the child at the centre of everything we do our curriculum, environments and resources are all evolved around our children. We provide a play-based curriculum engaging children in various levels of learning throughout the setting and at home.

Children are inspired to challenge their imaginations with the wonderful provocations provided. They are engaged and focused as practitioners plan in the moment responding to children's interests through conversation and shaping projects for our children. Our in the moment planning allows for immediate response by practitioners to each individual child's interests.

We view our young children as unique individuals who are curious about their world. Practitioners support our children by providing an enabling and stimulating environment that encourages them to explore. Our children lead the way through play with practitioners responding to their individual interests and extending their learning.

We promote and implement positive attitudes towards equality, diversity and social inclusion. We continually develop and improve our Nursery, involving all stakeholders in on-going assessment and review. We are a family at Mulberry Bush and are here to work together for our children and families.

"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn." (Maria Montessori)
