Job description

Level 2 or 3 Nursery Practitioner must have:



A thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation including the Early Years Foundation Stage is essential. A sound knowledge of Safeguarding and Health & Safety procedures. An enthusiastic and positive attitude along with excellent communication and written skills, you must possess Grade C or above in English or an equivalent qualification.

The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with children, parents and staff and have excellent interpersonal skills. Experience of working with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage age range and understand the importance of teaching a curriculum.

Role overview and responsibilities:



Ensuring high quality childcare and education is provided in a safe and clean environment in line with Ofsted requirements and EYFS inside and outside of the nursery To report any Safeguarding concerns about children or staff you may have to your DSL and follow procedures as required Ensuring that the candidate is a role model for staff including high levels of professionalism and standards of appearance Mentoring and supporting other staff in the nursery and work as a team, communication is key, ensure junior staff are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities, support them or ask for help for them Planning activities for the children and activities to support individual needs Knowledge of SEND and have an inclusive approach as we do throughout the nursery Carrying out progress checks and communicating your findings with parents/carers, completion of termly reports, observations, planning and next steps for the children in the room. Thorough understanding of the EYFS Reforms & new Development matters and the expectations of this Key work children To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families To understand and work to preschool nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement. To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the Nursery aims and objectives Be fun and exciting to give the children the best time in nursery

Pay: 7.55-12.30 per hour
