Little Acorns Childcare is a small, family run nursery in the heart of Whitley Bay. We are a term time setting, and so this would need to suit the candidate. We follow North Tyneside school holidays. We are seeking an experienced nursery practitioner to join our team from the 5th January 2026.
We are a small and close knit team, and children are at the heart of everything we do. The ideal candidate would be qualified at Level 2 or 3, and would have at least a year's experience of working in Early Years. The candidate would be expected to show their passion for working in Early Years, as well as a good knowledge of the EYFS and provide examples of their work/activities in an early years environment.
The candidate should be able to work in a fast paced environment, and be adaptable. The should demonstrate a 'hands on' approach, and be willing to join in play and activities from the get go. Our nursery is small and homely, and the staff and children are all so welcoming. We need someone who is warm, friendly and fun, to be the right fit for our setting.
You will be expected to plan and deliver activities which support children's physical, emotional, intellectual and social development aligned with the EYFS. You will be a key person for a number of children in the setting, so experience in this role would also be desirable.
We are an arts based setting, and would expect the candidate to be creative with their ideas for activities to aid development and hit mile stones in the early years. Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do, and the perfect candidate would share this ethos. You will be expected to observe and monitor development of children, communicate well with the parents and guardians, as well as the management team and SENCO, should you have any concerns.
The candidate would be expected to work 8 hour days, with a 1 hour unpaid lunch. Shifts range between 8-4, 9-5 or 10-6, so these hours would need to suit the candidate.
