We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner with prior experience in a SENDCO role to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children within a nurturing environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your management and leadership skills whilst supporting children's early development. The Nursery Practitioner will work closely with colleagues to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive setting that promotes learning and well-being.
In addition to the normal nursery practitioner role you will also be responsible for co-ordination the SEND provision for children with additional dead within the setting. Completing evaluations, reports, working towards EHCP / diagnosis for identified children in our care.
Although ongoing support and training is provided; this is a demanding role which involves a degree of administration and requires the successful candidate to be IT literate, extremely organised and experienced within these processes already, therefore prior experience is a pre-requisite.
Duties
Plan and deliver engaging activities tailored to the developmental needs of children in accordance with early childhood education standards
Supervise and support children during play, meal times, and rest periods, ensuring their safety at all times
Maintain accurate records of children's progress, behaviour, and daily routines
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication
Organise and lead group activities that promote social skills, creativity, and independence
Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, and welcoming by adhering to health and safety regulations
Manage daily administrative tasks related to child attendance and activity planning
Be the settings lead practitioner for SEND, completing assessments, paperwork, EHCP applications etc.
Skills
Proven experience with children in a childcare or nursery setting, demonstrating understanding of early childhood development principles
Strong management and leadership abilities to oversee daily operations effectively
Excellent communication skills in English, capable of liaising confidently with children, parents, and team members
Childcare qualifications recognised within the UK (e.g., Level 3 Early Years Educator) are preferred
Knowledge of nursery regulations and health & safety standards within early years environments
Ability to organise activities that stimulate learning whilst ensuring safety and inclusivity
A caring attitude with patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children
Previous experience of working with SEND children and delivering EHCP applications etc.
