Little Monkeys Craiglockhart are looking for enthusiastic individuals who would like to start a childcare career within our busy nursery.

The suitable candidate would be dedicated to their role, willing to work as a team, show a caring attitude and be able build relationships with our children and their families.

The role includes working as part of a busy team in a 108 place nursery, ensuring that the children's care is at the heart at all that we do. You would be required to work alongside a team to plan and carry out activities for children aged between 3 months - 5 years old. Your would also learn within the teams how to use individual planning framework to track children progress, how to respond to individual care routines and how to develop great relationships with everyone in the setting.

All of our team either hold an SVQ Level 3 / HNC in childhood development and you would be offered the opportunity to work towards this qualification whilst working within the setting. This would involve attending college (either in person or virtually) on a monthly basis and writing accounts of your activities with the children in order to show your planning, carrying out and reflection of your work. This qualification can vary between 8-18 months for completion.

We ensure that the children have a very varied day at nursery with garden and indoor activities on rotation at all times, and as many walks around the local environment as much as possible. Our preschool children have the opportunity to take part in forest schools classes throughout the week and our younger children enjoy opportunities to explore their local surroundings.

All staff in the setting are provided with first aid training, child protection training, infection control training and food hygiene training to ensure we are always meeting the safety needs of each child in our care.

A requirement of taking on the role is the satisfactory completion of a PVG check prior to your start date as well as the completion of 2 references for your staff file. After 6 months of working in the nursery all staff members are required to register with the SSSC to show that they are continuing to progress their skills and knowledge in order to provide the best start in life for the children.

The offered role is 37 hours per week, working 4 days with a variable day off.

The nursery is open 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, and we are closed from 3pm on 24th December until 3rd January each year.
