Nursery Worker

We are looking for a qualified Nursery Worker with experience in early years education and supporting children with SEND to join a friendly primary school in Carlisle in September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to transfer their skills from a nursery setting into a school-based EYFS environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support learning through play-based activities, indoors and outdoors. Work with children on a 1:1 and small group basis, especially those with SEND. Use alternative communication techniques, including Makaton, to support understanding and engagement. Help with daily routines, including snack and mealtimes. Assist with development tracking and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning space.

What We're Looking For:

A Level 2/3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years (or equivalent). Experience working with children with SEND in an early years setting. Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton). A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach to early learning. Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Hours:

8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Weekdays and Term Time only. Ideally we are looking for Full time applicants, but part time/job share also considered.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
