Qualified Nursing Associate

Are you a newly qualified Nursing Associate looking for a dynamic and rewarding role in mental health care? Or are you an experienced NA ready to expand your skills in a specialist environment?

MPFT is excited to offer an opportunity for Registered Nursing Associates to join the team at the Hatherton Centre - a medium secure forensic mental health unit providing care for individuals with complex mental health needs and a history of involvement with the criminal justice system.



As a Nursing Associate in our team, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary group providing compassionate, high-quality care to service users in a secure and structured environment. This setting offers the opportunity to:



Develop your clinical and communication skills in a unique forensic mental health setting

Work alongside experienced Registered Nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other professionals

Contribute to care planning, risk management, and therapeutic interventions

Gain experience that can support future career development toward becoming a Registered Nurse (if desired)

Are Registered Nursing Associates, holding current NMC registration

The Hatherton Centre, located in Stafford, provides a secure, supportive environment for men with mental health disorders requiring forensic care pathways.



You will support the appropriate assessment of mental and physical health of service users being cared for within an inpatient setting and ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care in line with individuals care and treatment plans and recovery action plan.

Main duties and responsibilities

Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other registered care professional as appropriate. Be accountable for own actions or omissions ensuring mindfulness of the NMC Code of Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates. Demonstrate skills to maintain professional standards of record keeping. Follow all information governance guidance, standards and policies. Maintain confidentiality as outlined within data protection policies Identify the need for policy development and or amendment to existing policies to ensure safe and effective inter-professional clinical care delivery. Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation. Participate in audit activities being undertaken in area of practice or across the service. Contribute to the improvement of service by reflecting on own practice and supporting that of others. Adhere to legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines both local and national. Regularly attend workplace and staff engagement meetings and contribute positively to discussions about the improvement of care. Continue to develop and improve practical and theoretical knowledge, competence and skills and maintain all evidence required. Contribute towards developing a culture of learning and innovation, developing high quality learning environments Awareness of safety and security. Act in the best interest of the patients and their family. Provide nursing care that is person centred, safe and compassionate. Use the knowledge and experience to make evidence based decisions and solve problems. Recognise and work within the limits of their competence as defined by the NMC standards of proficiency for Nursing Associates. Be able to identify own role boundaries. Be responsible for own actions and omissions and escalate concerns appropriately. Support service users to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeing.
