We are seeking a talented and passionate Second Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety. As Second Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious meals that delight our residents while ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.
Skills
Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting.
Strong culinary skills with an understanding of various cooking techniques.
Previous care home experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
Knowledge of food fortification.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
You will be qualified to NVQ/ SVQ/ City & Guilds level with a current food hygiene level 2 certificate.
What You'll Be Doing:
Cooking up delicious, nutritious meals tailored to resident needs and dietary requirements
Following pre-set menus and adapting for IDDSI & specialist diets
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations.
Collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods
Monitoring inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
This post is part time and will involve week-end working on a rota basis or may suit someone who would be happy to work every week-end.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: 13.60-14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
