Job Overview


We are currently recruiting for a permanent position to manage our clinical team, inviting applications from Registered Nurses with Specialist Occupational Health experience or qualification. We are particularly interested in candidates registered with both NMC and NMBI.

This Senior Occupational Health Nurse Lead position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on occupational health services to clients and their employees within our organisation while working in a supportive environment that values professional growth and development.

Essential Criteria:



Applicants must be able to demonstrate how they meet each element of the following essential criteria by the closing date:

1. Registered Nurse - registered on Parts 1 and 3 of the NMC register

and/or

NMBI registration with a recognised post graduate qualification in Occupational Health

2. Has undertaken or is currently undertaking all appropriate training to meet all aspects of the role including those pertaining to health surveillance.

3. Proven experience of working effectively within a team in a supporting role

4. In-depth knowledge of occupational health regulations, policies, and best practices

5. Demonstrable experience in managing pre-employment screenings, health surveillance, management referrals, and follow-up processes.

6. Experience of developing and implementing Occupational Health policies and procedures.

7. A current full driving licence and/ or access to a vehicle suitable for business purposes.

8. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word & Excel.

9. Be fully eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable Criteria



1. Ability to lead a team to build high performing teams to deliver a quality and effective OH service

Experience in supporting and implementing SEQOHS or other clinical accreditations.
3. Have completed or are currently completing a Preceptorship, Mentorship, and Coaching Programme to support the development of clinical practice, professional growth, and leadership capability.

4. Familiarity with digital OH systems and workflow automation

5. Have recently completed or are currently undertaking Audiometry and Spirometry training

Key Areas of Responsibility:



Lead the delivery of health surveillance and screening programmes

in compliance with Occupational Health legislation, ensuring robust systems are in place for pre-employment assessments and statutory surveillance (e.g. audiometry, spirometry). Oversee quality assurance processes to identify early signs of work-related ill health and ensure consistent assessment of fitness for role across the service.

Provide expert oversight in the assessment of fitness for work

, managing complex sickness absence cases and supporting effective return-to-work strategies. Guide the development of tailored rehabilitation and phased return plans, working closely with HR, line managers, and clinical staff to implement appropriate workplace adjustments.

Design, lead, and evaluate health promotion and wellbeing strategies

aligned with national health initiatives, embedding a culture of proactive wellbeing and supporting organisational objectives around workforce resilience and engagement.

Collaborate with safety and operational leaders in risk assessment processes

, providing senior clinical expertise on health-related risks and recommending effective, evidence-based control measures to mitigate occupational illness and injury.

Ensure clinical governance and data integrity through the maintenance of accurate health records

, upholding GDPR, NMC, and NMBI standards, and driving improvements in record-keeping practices across the team.

Model and promote continuous professional development (CPD)

across the service, meeting all revalidation requirements and creating opportunities for team members to engage in reflective practice, clinical supervision, and shared learning.

Lead on the integration of evidence-based practice into clinical protocols

, ensuring the team remains aligned with emerging trends, regulatory guidance, and best practice in occupational health.

Mentor and support the professional growth of team members

, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Pay: From 45,000.00 per year
