Duration:

9 month Secondment or 9 month Fixed Term Contract with the potential to go permanent. (Please note, secondments are subject to line manager approval, please discuss this with them before applying).


Location:

This role is based in The Quadrant MK with potential to be based in Manchester, Derby or Birmingham or any Network Rail office. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered. For Quadrant:MK, you must live within 90 minutes.


Band & Salary:

Band 4C 43,588 - 51,719 pro rata

Who are we looking for?



We are looking for an experienced and proactive Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager to join our team at Network Rail. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health, with a passion for promoting employee wellbeing across a diverse workforce. You'll be responsible for shaping and delivering our health and wellbeing strategy, ensuring compliance, and driving initiatives that support a safe, healthy, and productive working environment. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential.

About the role (External)



About the team..



This is a functional occupational health strategic team that improves the health and well-being of route services colleagues through health risk identification and management.

The health, safety & wellbeing of our colleagues is of paramount importance to us, delivering a high-quality occupational health service, and proactively managing our people's immediate and long-term health and wellbeing risks.


What does the average day look like?



No two days are the same as an Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager at Network Rail. You'll be the go-to person for all things health and wellbeing, ensuring our teams are supported and our policies are followed. You'll work closely with colleagues across the business--including HR and the central Health and Wellness Strategy team--to shape and deliver improvement plans tailored to local needs. From leading wellbeing initiatives and identifying training opportunities for line managers, to gathering meaningful health data and helping manage external service providers, you'll play a key role in keeping our people safe, supported, and thriving. You'll also stay on top of emerging health trends, continuously developing your expertise to meet the evolving needs of our workforce.



Essential Criteria



Registered General Nurse (RGN) or MSc/BSc in Occupational Health or OH Diploma/certificate

Relevant clinical occupational health expertise required to assess health needs of the business unit

Ability to work autonomously on own initiative and be able to prioritise work appropriately

An effective communicator

Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Proven resilience in an occupational health environment to be able to deal with the demands of the post

Desirable Criteria



Additional qualifications and experience in an area of health specialism, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer in the workplace, mental health, musculoskeletal conditions or vocational rehabilitation

Safety management qualification i.e. NEBOSH or equivalent Railway or equivalent industry experience

Customer interface, including training/presenting relevant health data/presentations
