Job Description

W e are seeking motivated and dynamic Band 5 Occupational Therapists with interest in general physical rehabilitation to apply for this exciting opportunity to work with NELFT's inpatient therapy wards at Meadow Court.



The role will require the successful candidate to work as part of the team based within an inpatient setting but with interface with other NELFT services and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery is of a high quality.

As part of the Inpatient therapy team, we can offer you:

Regular clinical and managerial supervision

The post holder will utilise a range of skills and experience gained in clinical practice to perform a specialist, comprehensive assessments using clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to formulate a treatment plan based on clinical findings .



Excellent communication skills are essential as well as good knowledge of current OT best practice and the ability to work as an effective team member across multi-professional team.



Probationary Period



This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).



Starting with NELFT



NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.



High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London



This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of 4,714 to a maximum of 5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).

1. To work flexibly and assist in effective and efficient delivery of the service.



2. To assess the occupational therapy needs of a defined patient group to establish and evaluate appropriate treatment plans. This includes chronic, acute, and palliative care within own competencies, recognising own limitations and seeking advice when necessary.



3. To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for patients with multiple to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of treatment



4. To select and apply occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling patients in the areas of productivity, self, and leisure.



5. To provide patients and relatives with information and education thus ensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life.
