Job Description

We have an exciting part time opportunity for a Occupational Therapist to join our Mental Health team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. Ideally needs to be a car driver due to location of the prison
HMP Wymott has capacity of around 1,100, and has a varied and complex population.
You will be working as apart part of the team and will be based within the healthcare department and be required to work on the prison wings.

  • Monday - Friday
  • 18.75 hours per week
  • 8am - 4pm
  • Flexible on working days
Salary:
This position is part time role, you'll receive an annual salary between 43,609 - 49,175 per annum FTE which will be pro rota - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Be responsible for the provision of occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation.
  • Provide visible and professional support to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and rehabilitation aimed at improving or maintaining independence.
  • Working with a caseload of patients with varying difficulties including complete health and social care needs; responding effectively to the changing needs of the patient caseload, managing the sometimes conflicting priorities of prevention of admission and discharge.
  • You'll assess and order equipment as identified by patient need and allocate work to OT assistant or care staff as necessary. Establishing communication networks with other team members, patients and other health and social care agencies, attending joint visits with other professionals as required.

  • Diploma/ degree in occupational therapy with current professional qualification (HCPC)
  • Post registration experience and evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
