An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5 hours) occupational therapy support worker to work in the Community Mental Health Team in Torfaen. The Occupational Therapy support worker will:
Following an initial assessment completed by an Occupational Therapist, carry out further assessments of occupational performance and participation as delegated by the Occupational Therapist. This may include assessments related to self-care, productivity and leisure occupations.
Use problem solving and clinical judgement skills to consider interventions that could support an individual's occupational performance and participation, seeking advice and support from delegating qualified occupational therapists for more complex situations.
Plan, prepare and carry out individualised occupationally focused intervention programmes with individuals as delegated by the Occupational Therapists, making minor modifications as needed, within the parameters of their knowledge, skills and role. This will include interventions related to self-care, productivity and leisure occupations.
Plan, prepare and co-facilitate/ facilitate occupational focused group interventions and programmes such as Discovery Through Activity.

The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing Occupational Therapy interventions under the direction of qualified Occupational Therapists (OT's).
OT's work with individuals to establish the impact of their mental health needs on their day to day functioning. They devise person-centred plans for intervention (group and one to one including facilitation of the 'discovery through activity' OT programme) with the individual to further assess, improve or maintain their functional ability.
Interventions offered in the community aim to address an individual goals in line with recovery based practice.
