Job Description

dam Bernard Solicitors is a progressive law firm dedicated to providing high-quality legal services. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Office Accountant with prior accounting practice experience in the UK to manage our day-to-day financial operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily bookkeeping and financial records in compliance with UK accounting standards. Prepare and process invoices, expenses, and payment runs. Maintain accounts payable and receivable ledgers. Reconcile bank statements and client accounts in line with SRA Accounts Rules. Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Support payroll processing and maintain accurate employee expense records. Monitor cash flow and prepare forecasts as required. Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and other stakeholders. Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements (VAT returns, PAYE, Corporation Tax support). Support management with budgeting and cost-control measures. Provide financial data and insights to support business decisions.

Requirements

Minimum

2 years' accounting practice experience in the UK

(essential). AAT qualified / part-qualified ACCA, ACA, or CIMA (desirable). Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC compliance. Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage). Knowledge of

SRA Accounts Rules

(preferred, but training can be provided). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting. Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
