We are offering an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to join a team of ecologists and provide support and resource within our Lockington office in Derbyshire.
The role is diverse and covers largely office administrative tasks including the scheduling of ecology surveys to be undertaken by our busy ecology team across the Midlands and further afield throughout the UK. This will require strong logistical skills, some geographical knowledge and the ability to problem solve.
Our ecologists undertake a variety of protected species surveys including breeding and wintering birds, bat activity surveys, roost emergence surveys, internal/external inspections of buildings, presence/absence surveys for dormice, reptiles, great crested newt, water vole and badgers to name a few. Each survey type has seasonal, weather, personnel, site access, and geographic restrictions that determine who can undertake the survey and when. The schedule is fundamental for the smooth running of the team and their workload, which can be challenging during the peak survey season and during changeable weather conditions.
The successful candidate will also have responsibility for assisting with:
arranging site access for surveying team,
liaising with sub-contractors undertaking surveys for the team,
health and safety procedures,
fee proposal documentation,
maintenance and monitoring of survey equipment,
data upload and analysis.
